This artwork fuses elements from both the Shalu District and the skatepark within the sports park. The "Lu" in "Shalu" means "deer", and the wheels in the sculpture symbolize skating. Together, they form an image of a deer spinning wheels with its head held high, hence giving rise to the name "Deer Spinning the Wheels of Joy". "Lu" can also refer to "road" in Chinese. Thus, with this sculpture, the artist also hopes that people who visit the sports park to exercise regularly can enjoy a more stress-free life and set off on a journey on which they are blessed with health and happiness.
